Mythological Story:
After the creation of so many magnificient forms of Shakti, for the whole good of this world brilliance had to be created out of these very shakti forms. It is for this reason that three other forms of Shakti known as the Annapurna and Gayatri and Savitri combined together to create a whole new motherly energy form that had wholesome nurturing qualities. This form emerged as a brilliance of light never ever seen before.
This light was called as the Jyoti.
But there was instability in this emerged jyoti. It had to actually take in a continuously stable form. So that it could be then called as the Akhanda Jyoti. For this, another 9 important forms of Shakti including the core basic forms of shakti combined together for 9 days and nights continuously. These 9 forms of shakti who combined together to create the form of Jagat Janani Akhanda Jyoti were Adi Shakti, Gayatri, Mahalakshmi, Kali, Durga, Yogini, Parvati, Saraswati and Lakshmi. All of these forms together took up a shape of a stable kalasha on and over which the jyoti could be kept stable.
The whole formation of these 12 forms of shakti was thus called as the Akhanda Jyoti Kalasha.
