The Mythology:
The process evolved through the grace of Krishna. Once Krishna got the whole world under the influence of his mind blowing Maya (illusion). The whole world got into heights of confusions because of this. In the maze of confusions, everybody's speech was affected. The whole world was full of doubts, insults and accusations and everybody was throwing it at one another. Some were throwing it in crude manner and some were throwing it with decent polished sophistication and some were simply dragged into this whole throwing without any knowledge at all. There was endless chaos because of this. Nobody actually meant ill-will for anybody, yet under the effect of this Krishna Maya, everything appeared as if it was all just ill-will of all towards all. As does happens always, everything was shaping out well and there was actually wellness and uplifting growth for all and the realizations were dawning in that the Lord did all this selflessly. And Krishna was back in his most popular mode of playing the flute enchanting everybody in its musical notes.
All, but his brother Balaram and sister Subhadra believed this. They felt that they and the whole world was cheated by Krishna. They were simply frustrated with his tongue twisters and habit of self contradicting and revalidating. They were not sure of his motive or meaning even if he called his brother 'Dau' because this could mean 'elder brother', or 'one who is engaged in the profession of milking cows' or 'insufficiently literate' or it could even mean something else also. And Krishna always smiled amusingly whenever he called 'Dau' because he knew what was going in their minds. But the fact was that Krishna really loved his brother and sister very much, but had hardly ever showed it to them. They had come to his help every time he needed them and they thought that he had simply taken them for granted because of the relationship. He used to attend to everybody else. But for these two, he hardly ever had any time.
One day Krishna took Balaram and Subhadra with him and toured the whole city blessing the whole city. This was his way of showing his depth of love to his brother and sister. While touring the city, he told Balaram and Subhadra, 'Look at all these people. They are all my brothers and sisters. Not because they are, but I simply always see your faces in them. They are missing love and affection. They are so desperate for this be shown to them by somebody.' Then suddenly Krishna stopped his chariot that they were all riding and called a person and asked - 'Whom do you see blessing you all?' The answer was - 'Balaram and Subhadra'. Then he rode on further ahead and asked another person, "Whom do you see blessing you all?". The answer was - 'Lord Jagannath'. Then he again smiled and said, this world is so funny, they either see you two or they see my lord. And then he declared to Balaram and Subhadra, this is my Subhadra Vachan.
He further declared that one can always find me here in this form on this land - the so called land of chandals (the despicable and lower grade people) as referred by so many learned and wise people. Many years later, Subhadra realized what Krishna had done when she got married and then she experienced the bliss of Krishna Lila. This is a very mystic facet of Krishna and till now, the learned and wise from all places and all beliefs are simply enchanted by this form. This is very mystic and works mystically no matter what one may ask.
